In this time of home quarantine, I wanted to share with you some great suggestions on Caring for your Mental Health during COVID-19 that was written by our health teacher, Ms. Schneider:

The COVID-19 pandemic is a situation unlike any most of us have faced before. It is normal to feel stressed and anxious during this strange and difficult time. As we socially distance to protect the physical health of ourselves and others, it is important to care for our mental and emotional health as well. Suggestions for safe ways to do this include:

  • Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting.
  • Take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate. Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, and avoid alcohol and drugs.
  • Stick to your routine as much as possible. Keep wake-up time, bedtime, and meal times consistent. Practice personal hygiene habits.
  • Make time to unwind. Try to do some activities you enjoy.
  • Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling.
  • Call your healthcare provider if your stress or anxiety begins to interfere with your daily functioning.
  • To reach an emotional support hotline, call any of the red-highlighted numbers listed here: https://www.nami.org/NAMI/media/NAMI-Media/BlogImageArchive/2020/NAMI-National-HelpLine-WarmLine-Directory-3-11-20.pdf

Take care, stay safe at home, and I hope to see you soon.
Cheers,
