Note: All events, unless otherwise indicated are in room 115a, our Garfield Computer Science Classroom.  See for more details or stop by 115a and talk to Mr. Bergquist.

Friday, Dec 7th: First Robotics FTC Qualifier Competition 4 – 8:15pm at Franklin High School.

Saturday Dec 8th: UW Computer Science Open House 1 – 3pm at Paul Allen Center for Computer Science & Engineering.  Details:

Monday, Dec 10th (Noon – 12:30pm): Garfield’s Women in Technology meeting, celebrating Admiral Grace Murray Hopper’s birthday (Dec 9th) – bring your lunch, everyone is welcome! (

Tuesday, Dec 11th (9 – 9:55am): FreakNGenius* visits our 2nd Period Projects in CS Class to present on marketing & development research at a local Start up with Clayton Weller, Founder of FreakN’Genius. See:

Tuesday, Dec 11th after school: Meet Dawgbot! Open house with our Robotics Team.

Wednesday, Dec 12th (8-9:55am): Microsoft X-Box 360 Development & Testing* – engineers will present to our 1st Period Exploring CS class (8 – 9am) with Jiunwei Chen & Jason Pace.

Thursday, Dec 13th (Noon – 1:30pm): UW White Hat Hacking & Security* Lunch (Noon – 12:30pm) & 6th Period AP CS (12:35 – 1:30pm):  with Franziska Roesner. See:

Friday, Dec 14: The Hobbit opens, no CS Ed events scheduled.

Saturday, Dec 15th: PS CSTA Computer Programming Contest, 9am-2:30pm at UW Paul Allen Center for Computer Science & Engineering. We have 7 teams participating! Details:

Sunday, Dec 16th: First Robotics District Competition 8am-5:30pm at King’s High School, Seattle Details:

Monday, Dec 17th (9am – 12:30pm): UW BioEngineering* presents and demonstrated several BioEngineering research projects to our 2nd, 3rd & 4th Periods classes and hopefully at lunch too!  with Deep Hathi and his team from UW BioEngineering:

* if you would like to join one of the classroom presentations, stop by 115a for a permission slip from Mr. Bergquist – to be signed by your teacher.

Other local events:
Sat-Sun, Dec 29-30th, Code Day, noon-noon at Zynga in Pioneer Square.  “CodeDay is an amazing 24-hour event where students who love technology to hang out and code.”
